Dhanushkodi Tip – Rameswaram

#travelwithgdp Fact: The Lion Capital of Ashoka is a sculpture of four Asiatic lions standing back to back, on an elaborate base that includes other animals. A graphic representation of it was adopted as the official Emblem of India in 1950. It was originally placed atop the Ashoka pillar at the important Buddhist site of Sarnath by Emperor Ashoka, in about 250 BCE.

Description: I know I have been bombarding my blog with various posts of Rameswaram. But I have saved the best for the last. This beautiful picture was taken at sunset at the tip of the Rameswaram where we were closer to Sri Lanka than Rameswaram diagonally. The winds around this area are unbelievable and everything we carried including the camera, bags and even our clothes was filled with sand and salt sprayed by the sheer force of the wind blown from the Arabian Sea.

Look out for the next posts from Madurai!
