#travelwithgdp Fact: An estimated 1,800 people died in the cyclonic storm on 22 December 1964 including 115 passengers on board the Pamban-Dhanushkodi passenger train. The entire town was marooned and the Government of Madras declared Dhanushkodi as a Ghost town, unfit for living.
Description: One of the more offbeat destinations to visit by travelers and tourists alike who are generally intrigued by its history. What remains behind of the Dhanushkodi town is the remains after it was submerged by a cyclone bigger than 20 feet. The pictures show a broken down church, and 50+ years down the line, the remains is a reminder that we are very very small compared to nature and its wrath.
